We are registered to provide free nursery education places.

All four year olds and many three year olds now qualify for grant funded early years education.  Funding is not based on income, etc, but is national government policy to enable access to pre-school education for children aged 3 and 4.

A child born on or between; Will become eligible for a
free place from;

1 April and 31 August  1 September following their third birthday
1 September and 31 December 1 January following their third birthday
1 January and 31 March 1 April following their third birthday

Those children eligible are entitled to 15 hours, a maximum of five funded sessions per week of at least 3 hours, for 38 weeks of the year.  These five sessions can be taken solely with ourselves (subject to places being available) or can be split with another provider.

We are eligible to receive the 15 hour entitlement for two year old Funding for those people that meet the Government criteria. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this.

It is not Puffin’s policy to charge “top up” fees.

Fees are currently £11.50 per session.  These are payable either daily/weekly/monthly or half termly in advance.  Fees are payable even if a child is absent, as it is the place that is being paid for and not the attendance.  If an absence is likely to be prolonged the Manager or Committee should be consulted about fees.  Each child’s attendance is conditional upon the payment of fees.

For children who are eligible for funding but use their entitlement (i.e. five sessions) with another provider and then choose to take additional sessions with ourselves, the fee payable per session will be equal to the funded amount prevailing at that time.

Lunch Club fees are charged at £2 for half an hour, 11.45am until 12.15pm.  Lunch Club is flexible and available for one off occasions, on an ad hoc basis, or as a regular arrangement.  Please let us know if you want your child to attend Lunch Club as soon as possible, so that we can ensure suitable staff cover.  Please note, your child will need to bring their own packed lunch.

Monies In:
Please could we ask that all monies paid into Puffin are placed in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, the amount, and the reason for payment on the outside.  This helps our Administrator greatly when trying to manage the accounts.
